This is my 40th state to paddle and 48th state to visit. For years I had been hearing about the Red River, and as I started to research where to go, I read about the revitalization that Fargo has had, in part due to Microsoft's expansion there. The Red River runs through Fargo (and neighboring city Moorhead, Minnesota), flowing north, btw, so Michelle and I said "You betcha!" like a local.
We launched from a public launch that has an accessible ramp, making it possible for those who are in wheelchairs to get from wheelchair to kayak and back, that was pretty cool.
We paddled upstream, passing deer, a red tailed hawk, turtles and golfers, turned around and paddled back, all at the hottest part of the day, which wasn't oppressively hot because we're not in the south in the summer.
